Rules of aluminium recycling

The fourth type of materials collected in Tbilisi for recycling on stands operated by Clean World is aluminium.

According to Wikipedia “aluminium is an infinitely recyclable material, and it takes up to 95 percent less energy to recycle it than to produce primary aluminum, which also limits emissions, including greenhouse gases. Today, about 75 percent of all aluminum produced in history, nearly a billion tons, is still in use”.

You can bring to collection points:

  • aluminium cans
  • other aluminium packaging that have triangle sign with number 41 and/or letter ALU)

❗️ How to prepare your aluminium for recycling:

  • rinse well after use (especially after sweet drinks)
  • flatten as much as possible
  • please make sure your aluminum tubes are empty. Also please remove the lids to reduce work during secondary sorting

Please note: aluminium tinfoil is not accepted for recycling in Georgia!

✳️ Besides aluminium you can put in the same bin clean tin cans. For now all tin cans are gathered on the separation facility to reach the necessary amount for shipping for recycling.

There is no aluminium recycling facilities in the meantime in Georgia so all collected aluminium is sent for recycling abroad.
